DJ Maniace, 2009 Past President of the Durham Regional Association of Realtors and a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Academy, North Carolina Association of Realtors, has been a real estate professional for over ten years. Passionate about her work and devoted to her clients, DJ delights in representing a wide array of home buyers and sellers—from first-timers to old-timers, from transplants to home grown, from downsizers to upscalers.
DJ, a native Michigander, moved to Durham in 1981 where she attended North Carolina Central University. A theater arts and biology major, DJ drew on her training in both areas when she became the Director of Pheresis Recruitment at the American Red Cross. From there she went to IBM and eventually became a troubleshooter for highly sophisticated mainframe computer systems. After Big Blue, DJ moved to the mountains near Asheville, opening trendy clothing stores in Biltmore Village and Waynesville. In 1998, she began her real estate career, becoming a multi-million dollar producer in just her second year. She returned to Durham in 1999 where she joined the North Carolina and Durham Association of Realtors. Before becoming President, DJ served on the DAR's grievance and legislative/political affairs committee, and was elected to the positions of treasurer, secretary, vice-president and President Elect. In 2007, DJ was chosen to attend the North Carolina Association of Realtors Leadership Academy, an honor bestowed on only twelve realtors each year from across the state of North Carolina.
In her spare time, DJ loves to play tennis, golf, hike in the woods, watch women's basketball, and surround herself with her seven grandchildren.
